haha...i'm glad that u know the true meaning of friend....

At the surprise party, we all sat clapping dumbly when you came in unsurprised.
I fumbled in a cabinet, your voice in the other room saying I know we are of the same nature.
Three birds with clipped wings try to glide up the dizzy staircase.Claws rattle the banister.
Downstairs, a blackbird rips the basement insulation.
I didn't know that was you rustling in the upstairs window. You didn't know I was listening—
dissembler, aberration, wellspring, laughing with me in the luminous room,
where I'll say your name and you'll find me unsurprised.

IF I SHOULD DIE..<<14.3.08>>

By JuLiDa

If I should die, think only this of the "real" me:

When I realize my foot step on the earth
I back to the real world
I always live in fantasy
To make it reality, myself full with mystery
Sensitive, lonely, happy go lucky
Don’t you judge me from what you see
I am not like anyone of you think of
Shy, smiley- face, smooth
Sometime someone ask me to stop talking
Be descent and soft.
Dislike to scold, to mad of anyone
I will suffer inside if I hurt others
i seek for apologize if i ever do that
I am not pretending or acting
I have a multiple characters
But keep in ur mind, I am not hypocrite!
If I love someone
I love with all of my heart, too loyal
thanks to all my loves
If I regard anyone as my friends
I bear in mind to treat them as best as I can,
thanks for being my friends
If you touch my heart, if you betray me
I will cry all the day and night
In the toilet and in front of mirror
I love my mom, she is a good listener to me
I still remember she take care of me
While I’m having a critical fewer
She did not sleep for the whole night
Promise me you will live in happily!
I love my dad, he understand me so much
Even he mad with me, he advices me with politeness
promise me you will be strong forever!
I love babies, cats and flowers
Please stay away from my corpse-cockroaches!

chEchnya~

Now, it comes to the last presentation…
Nashrul presented on a country which recently always appears in media, Chechnya.

As we acknowledge, there is a broken of human right in that country where Russian forces was reported involved in human right violations including the extrajudicial killing.
That war that happened in Chechnya actually has greatly damaged the Russian’s international standing and it makes Russia isolated from the international community.

If we can see, very cruel war crime happened in the Chechnya such kidnapping, murder, hostage taking, looting, rape, and some Russian forces indiscriminately bombed and shelled civilian areas. Chechen civilians, including medical personnel, continue to be the target of military attacks by Russian forces. In addition, hundreds of Chechen civilians and prisoners of war were extra judicially executed. Journalists and independent monitors are refused to access Chechnya because of the war.

Let now view my opinions on the presenter…my teammate for this blog and also other work in Professional speech class.

Nashrul. He good in term of voice and the way he speaks.
However, maybe he felt nervous that day so he kept on repeating same word.
(I don’t even think he also can feel nervous)
Overall, good effort but prepare more next time!

" Go on speaking"

By Rin
" You and I are like many other speakers, at times we receive criticisms given by listeners.
It's normal for all of us to make mistakes, but do not think that our lives are at stake.
Just gather additional courage and faith.
And go on speaking without being afraid, you will be a master of this speaking game.
Remember that nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Iran~

Today I’m going to talk about Iran...the county which full with controversial because of it nuclear development.
As all of us acknowledged, US is really worry on the nuclear program of Iran because they afraid if one day Iran will use the nuclear power for military use.
However, as In the past four years that Iran's nuclear programme has been under close investigation by the IAEA and the Director General of the IAEA, as early as reported to the IAEA Board of Governors that..
"To date, there is no evidence that the previously undeclared nuclear material and activities ... were related to a nuclear weapons programme.”...
So, why US still worry and really want Iran to stop their nuclear programme?

Turn to the presenter, Marziana or Julie…
Her slide show is really interesting. I think she used a flash right?
Anymore, her dressing is really matching with her. pink..I think..or not really pink but I love that color.
About her presentation, her voice and eye contact are well-control.
Some humor that she put, make it more interesting and grab the attention of audience.
Overall, really good effort!

bosnia~

By JuLiDa
First of all, i want to give my comment on Umi Khairani which presenting on Bosnia Herzegovina last2 class..
For me..she is a very good speaker! because she has mostly complete package. why i said so?
i think all of you see like what im seeing too right..she has a good voice projection, eye contact and also look like a professional speaker. But at the day i think she did not have enough rest (her fren told that she has midterm and so on) However she gave her speech with confident and full with spirit..(so how can she said she was so nervous!?)
I never see any defect on her..( hee jgn perasan lebih plak tau!)

Anyway,i put one interesting summary on crisis in bosnia here that i took from one famous website..so we can read and know what happened actually in the country.

A Summary of the Crisis in Bosnia

A WAR OF AGGRESSION Before its independence, Bosnia-Herzegovina was one of the constituent republics of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. At that time, roughly four million people lived in Bosnia, and three ethnic groups predominated: Slavic Muslims (forming 44% of the population), Serbs (31%), and Croats (17%). Bosnia became an independent country as Yugoslavia disintegrated. Yugoslavia was first founded after World War I, but disintegrated during World War II. After the war, Yugoslavia was refounded as a Communist state and held together largely by the strength of its dictator, Josip Broz Tito. When Tito died in 1980, a power vacuum opened in which separatist and centralist tensions quickly mounted throughout the 1980s. The 1990 elections in Bosnia resulted in a governing coalition of three ethnically-based parties generally corresponding to the three major ethnic groups. Muslims and Croats in the governing coalition favored independence for Bosnia-Herzegovina, while most Bosnian Serbs did not. In January 1992 nationalist Bosnian Serb leaders proclaimed a Serbian entity within Bosnia. In a referendum shortly thereafter, over 63 percent of Bosnians voting chose independence, meeting the criteria for recognition set forth by the U.S. and the EU several months earlier. Although the Bosnian Serb party boycotted the vote and "encouraged" the Bosnian Serb community to follow suit, many Serbs supported the government. The U.S., along with most of the international community, recognized the independence of Bosnia-Herzegovina in April 1992. In the spring of 1992, after its offensive in Croatia had ground to a stalemate, Serbia launched a war of aggression against Bosnia. The nationalist Bosnian Serb political party, proxies of Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic, had removed its members from the government. In March Serbian paramilitary forces, reinforced by the Serbian-dominated Yugoslav National Army, began a campaign of terror in eastern Bosnia. By early May the Yugoslav Army announced that it would withdraw from Bosnia-Herzegovina. In reality, however, some 80,000 men (mostly Bosnian Serbs) simply changed uniforms and, with a powerful arsenal including tanks and aircraft left behind by the truncated Yugoslav Army, continued prosecuting the war and genocide. This reconfigured Bosnian Serb force under "General" Ratko Mladic, aided by paramilitary groups, began seizing territory in northern and eastern Bosnia, expelled much of the non-Serbian population, and engaged in "ethnic cleansing." This campaign included mass killings of civilians, concentration camps, systematic rape, and the forced displacement of millions, creating the largest flow of refugees in Europe since World War II. The Serbian forces continue to be supplied and supported by the Milosevic regime in Belgrade as part of its efforts to create a Greater Serbia. The Bosnian government has sought to include all ethnic groups. The current president of the Bosnian parliament is a Bosnian Serb, and at least one-fifth of the defenders of Sarajevo, Bosnia's capital, are Serbian. One of the Deputy Commanders of the Bosnian defense forces is a Bosnian Croat, another a Serb. Although the HVO, a formerly separatist force of nationalist Bosnian Croats, fought Bosnian government troops during 1993 and early 1994, a U.S.-brokered Federation agreement, which the nationalist Bosnian Serbs are invited to join but have refused, ended the conflict between the two and has greatly strengthened the forces opposing Serbian aggression. In contrast, the Serbian regime controlling over 70% of Bosnian territory has ruled that all children of inter-ethnic marriages are to be considered "illegitimate." Moreover, the process of "ethnic cleansing" continues throughout Serb-held regions. Throughout the aggression the United Nations, the European Union (formerly the European Community), and the United States have proven ineffectual in their efforts to broker peace. At the request of the Milosevic regime, in September 1991 the U.N. imposed an arms embargo on Yugoslavia in an attempt to contain the fighting. Since Bosnia's recognition as an independent country, enforcement of this embargo against the government of Bosnia is a violation of the inherent right of self-defense, a right acknowledged in Article 51 of the U.N. Charter itself. The General Assembly of the U.N. has twice voted overwhelmingly in favor of requesting the Security Council to lift the embargo, arguing that it prevents the Bosnians from defending themselves. The Security Council has ignored these votes. Instead of allowing the Bosnians to defend themselves, the international community has relied on negotiations. In August 1992 at the London Conference, the U.N. and the European Community demanded that Bosnia remain a single country and that it not be partitioned into three separate, ethnically "pure" states. This policy was incorporated into the Vance-Owen plan, which would have resulted in a single country with ten semi-autonomous, ethnically-based cantons. The Bosnian Serb "parliament" rejected this plan in May 1993. Later that year, the Owen-Stoltenberg plan was offered. It completely reversed the policy of the London Conference by calling for the partition of Bosnia largely along the lines of Serbian and Croatian military gains, creating separate, ethnically "pure" countries. The Bosnian government rejected the plan, declaring that it would leave them with an economically unviable and militarily indefensible state. In May 1994 the U.S. joined France, Britain, Germany, and Russia (collectively known as the "Contact Group") in endorsing a plan to leave fifty-one percent of Bosnia under control of the new Bosnian-Bosnian Croat Federation, while awarding forty-nine percent to Serbia. The Bosnian Serbs have rejected the Contact Group's "take-it-or-leave-it" plan repeatedly, but the U.S. and the Europeans continue to make this partition plan the focus of their diplomatic efforts. In an ostensible effort to force the Bosnian Serbs to accept the plan, Serbian President Milosevic claims to have imposed an embargo against his Bosnian Serb proxies. Numerous reports, including a statement from Secretary of Defense Perry, suggest that the blockade is largely a facade. The small number of border monitors (135) sent by the U.N. to evaluate the Serbian "blockade" is widely regarded as completely inadequate; U.S. and other military sources have assessed the total number of monitors required for an effective mission at 4-5,000. Nonetheless, based on a preliminary report by the border monitors, the U.N. Security Council (with U.S. support) eased U.N. sanctions against Serbia as a reward for its purported moves to isolate the Bosnian Serb extremists, and has refused to reinstate full sanctions despite clear evidence that the Serb invasion of Bosnia continues. It is now over three years since Bosnia-Herzegovina declared independence, was recognized by the U.S. and EC member states, and became a full member of the United Nations. In that time more than 200,000 Bosnians have been killed. Tens of thousands of Bosnian Muslim women, many of them only girls, have been raped. More than two million Bosnians are refugees or are in internal exile. The State Department's 1992 annual report on human rights stated that Serbian forces in Bosnia were conducting a campaign of "cruelty, brutality, and killing" unmatched in Europe "since Nazi times," and as recently as March 1995, a CIA report was leaked to the press that attributed more than 90% of atrocities committed in Bosnia to Bosnian Serb forces. While the Contact Group continues to call for peace, Serbian forces continue their aggression and ethnic cleansing.

Somali~

By JuLiDa
Somalia..as we ever know, it is a country that full with suffer and crisis. Starting from the political and economical problem raised in the country,it effectively destroyed. It had no government, no police force, nor even basic services.
Somalia started to lay a ruin..fighting and murderous happened. Even the interruption of US and UN do not help in solving its however, they actually dragged themselves into the Somali's Battles. So, many of them were killed in the hand of Somali and many of Somali killed in the hand of them.
All of these clearly show that interruption of external countries actually did not help anything to solve the crisis there and will probably not provide an enduring solution to Somalia's difficulties.
On the other hand,it is true that external factors, including the colonial legacy, the Cold War, and other foreign meddling in African affairs, have played a role in creating the region's problems.
But the primary causes of Africa's crises are of internal origin such misguided political leadership, corruption, capital flight, defective economic systems, civil wars, and military vandalism.
Although foreign powers can help with the resolution of Somali-type conflicts, it should be recognized that Somali themselves bear the ultimate responsibility for solving their problems. Indeed, they are the only ones capable of providing a lasting solution.
Anyway, my opinion on the presenter of this country..Jannah (Jay), she actually look good and cool while given her speech. In addition, she look well-prepared with the contents, for me, she could improve in term of voice tone, eye contact and gestures.
Overall, well-done!!

Book review : Ibn Khaldun

By Rin
His name is Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Al-Hasan bin Jabir bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abdurahman bin Ibn Khaldun. He was born in Tunis on Ramadan 1, 732 (May 27, 1332. Ibn Khaldun is the most important figure in the field of History and Sociology in Muslim History. He is one of those shining stars that contributed so richly to the understanding of Civilization. In order for one to understand and appreciate his work, one must understand his life. He lived a life in search of stability and influence. He came from a family of scholars and politicians and he intended to live up to both expectations. He would succeed in the field of Scholarship much more so than in any other field.

He received a traditional education that was typical of his family’s rank and status. He learned first at the hands of his father who was a scholarly person who was not involved in politics like his ancestors. He memorized the Qur’an by heart, learned grammar, Jurisprudence, Hadith, rhetoric, philology, and poetry. The education he received from his teachers seems to have been thorough and scholastic.

He entered into public life before having attained age twenty. His first position was that of the seal bearer. His ambitious desire for greater authority and power.
After having changed sides from ruler to ruler,he felt tired of political adventures and he abandoned politics and sought refuge among the Banu Arif tribe. It was there he composed his famous Muqaddimah, his Prolegomena to History.

He died on March 16,1406,shortly after his sixth nomination for the judgeship. He was buried in the Sufi cemetery in Cairo.Ibn Khadun seemed to be the only writer in the history of Islam who, with an amazing frankness, wrote a detailed book about his secular activities.

SYEIKH DAUD AL FATANI

By nash21
I'm very proud to do book review on this particular muslim scholar. he is one of the malay muslim scholar that have make an impact trough out asian and middle east country trough his magnificent writing.

his full name is al-Alim Allamah al-Arif ar-Rabbani Syeikh Wan Daud bin Syeikh Wan Abdullah bin Syeikh Wan Idris al-Fatani. his mother name Wan Fathimah Wan Salamah bin Tok Banda Wan Su bin Tok Kaya Rakna Diraja bin Andi (Faqih) Ali Datok Maharajalela bin Mustafa Datu Jambu (Sultan Abdul Hamid Syah) bin Sultan Muzaffar Waliullah bin Sultan Abu Abdullah Umdatuddin.

syeikh Daud better known as Tok Syeikh Daud Patani or syeikh daud al fatani had five siblings in the family three brothers and one sister.

Syeikh Daud al-Fathani, born at Kampung Parit Marhum, Kerisek, Patani. Kota Kerisek are very famous in history because at here Maulana Malik Ibrahim one of the Wali Songo used to live and teach there before return to Jawa Timur.

the writer of this book have some problem in finding the facts about his year of born. according to syeikh Daud relatives some of them said he was born on the year of 1133 H, but some of our research siad 1153 H or 1183 H.

his father Sheikh Wan Abdullah and his grandfather Sheikh Wan Idris was famous muslim scholar at that time. from the beginnig of his life his father and grandfather has tought him about islam, and syeikh Daud him self was a fast leaner. he always follow his dad or his grandfather when they went for teaching. it was normal at that time for young kids like syeikh Daud to memorize al-quran, hadith, nahu and sorrof. they were trained to memorizing without writing it. just hear from the teacher itself.

syeikh Daud learn islam from his family including his famous uncle Sheikh Muhammad Zain bin Faqih Jalaluddin al-Asyi, after few years syiekh Daud with his friends went to study more about islam at Makkah. He study there for 30 years and then went to study at Madinah for five more years. After completing his study he went back to Pattani with his fellow friends to spread the da'wah and teach islam to pattani people. He was shock to find out that siames army have attack pattani and his village. Syiekh Daud with his fellow friends join Pattani people and fight with what all they have. Luck was not on their side, Pattani empire fall down to siames empire and syiekh Daud with his fellow friends was thrown out from Pattani to Makkah.

At Makkah he was elected to became leader for pilgrims during haj month. He spend his time teaching at Masjidil Haram and writing abaout aqidah, feqah, akhlaq, arabic and many more. Syiekh Daud writing also very popular at Makkah during that time, he wrote in malays and arabic. The malay version become so popular in asia. Syeikh Daud always remind his students to understand and learn about islam deeply, because to him religion education should be understand first before proceed to other education. He also ask his student to read a lot and never to foget memorizing the Holy Quran. His famous book was Bughyatuth Thullab, in this book he asked all the muslim to unite and make sure to study islam as deep as you can. He also do some tafsir in hadis.

Syeikh Daud al-Fathani wrote in his famous book “Bughyatuth Thullab” : “if some is are expert and major at any field of educations, but he fail to expert and major in Islam education, the person is same as a person witout any knowledge at all.”

Syeikh Daud al-Fathani blow his last breath at Makkah and he was burried Taif. His grave were beside Saidina Abdullah bin Abbas grave, who are cousin to Rasulullah s.a.w. Nobody know the exact year of syiekh die but the closes information that the writer got is in the year 1847 M, but there is also some information said that in the year of 1265 H.

To the witer, although Syeikh Daud al Fatani has gone for so long, to him Syeikh never die, his courage and bravenes in fighting siames army and his writing in educating people to islam always there to guide the writer like he is there with him always.

May Allah bless Syeikh Daud Soul and put him with the solihin..amin..

BOOK REVIEW~MALIK BENNABI~

By JuLiDa
Malik Bennabi. Who’s that? I guess all of you rarely heard this name or never know even a little about him. Am I right? So, who actually this guy? Let have information about this man by reading my review on his background and life below.

Malik Bennabi was a moderate Muslim Algerian thinker who famously produced a work of Theory of civilization. The study was systematically discusses Bennabi’s views on his life and the society he analyzed. He was born on November 1, 1905 in Constantine, Algeria. He came from a moderate family and married with a French woman but they did not have children.
At the young age, Bennabi started to demonstrated signs of intellectual growth and greater personal maturity. He steadily became more aware of the social and cultural changes occurring both Tibissa and Constantine. Meanwhile, when a group of ulama’ who had studied in the Arab East returned to Tibissa, he sensed a new burst of ideas in that town In Constantine, Bennabi was ready to participate in the social and cultural activities of his generation. The press was one of the major means through which he became informed about the political and social events of his environment.
He was really interested with the Wahhabi movement which greatly influenced his thinking. The attack on Sufism and Marabutism make him develop a negative attitude and it decline his assumption before that Wahhabism was to be a savior of the Muslim World. On the ground of his religious and political views, Bennabi became involved in the various activities of the Maghrib Student Association in 1931. While he migrated to Paris, he joined a group of Arab students in establishing a secret association which they represented their countries.
Bennabi achieved his intellectual maturity during the thirties. As an educated person, he was excited with certain contemporary discoveries. Bennabi’s awareness of his role as a Muslim individual with national and social obligations inspired his imagination in a variety of different directions. In 1965,two years after the beginning of the Algerian war, Bennabi managed to emigrate to Egypt because he was clearly motivated by a desire to be a in sympathized with the national cause of his country and which would allow him to act in the favor of that cause.
Nearly to his end of life, he was harassed, questioned, and also beaten after his return to Algeria. He died at his home in Algiers in October 1973 and was officially mourned in Algeria and Libya and publicly by many of his friends and students in the Middle East and Europe.

Hugo Chavez~

By JuLiDa
SPEECH STYLE

The speech by Hugo Chavez is more to a direct way messages and it looks like an expression of feeling full with emotion and realization. His speech included words that are advance and sometime hard to be understood such as “rostrum” and “cynical”. He should make the speech as audience-centered because all people around the world was heard his speech. However, the used of powerful sentences such “sword hanging over our heads” really can make people feel the situation.

OPINION ON BACKGROUND OF THE SPEECH

In my opinion, the speech is really like a “fire” which it can burn an emotion of “the devil” (Bush), other imperialists and in another side, it also can burn a spirit of people around the world and other leaders to realize on what had happened in their countries. Chavez clearly mentioned his opposition to “the devil” that he considered him as an imperialist who always used his power to treat other countries like. He throws bad assumptions to the imperialists which attacked the countries like Palestine, Lebanon and so on. He stated in the speech on what are a situation in the countries that has been threaten by them and not excluded, the Venezuela itself. His speech plays a vital effect in order to bring a realization to people of the world to be together uniting a world in achieving peace and freedom from imperialists and stand for everyone’s rights.

OPINION ON THE PERSONALITY

Hugo Chavez was the president of Venezuela and I think he has a disputed personality because he always ordered for the freedom of people and countries but some said that he leading government in an authoritarian direction, abandoning democratic tradition, extending state control over the economy and eliminating dissent. We can see also in while in his leadership time, the economy was declined and increasing of criminal rate to triple. Meanwhile, I am proud with him because he was bravely enough to raise his dissatisfaction to “the devil” and other imperialists and encourage people spirits to struggle in opposing them and bring peace, freedom and justice among countries and re-new the UN.

John F. Kennedy...

By JuLiDa
For me the landmark speech that has been presented on JFK..inaugural speech by yaya, amalina, julie, jay, lutfi and kak wahida was really interesting. The way they organize the speech and role play that they acted were running smoothly and match with the JFK speech. Actually, I like your tags!

SPEECH STYLE

The inaugural speech by JFK has powerful content, well-organized, and a lot of beautiful words. It actually was being written fully with a sense of leadership that really concern on his citizens. He putted a lot of advices that completely for his citizen to be an active citizen in supporting his leadership and struggle for a goodness of everyone. In addition, he choose beautiful words like “hand of God” and "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation" that make the speech listen interesting and touch the citizen’s heart.

OPINION ON BACKGROUND OF THE SPEECH

JFK speech full with spiritual, motivational and enthusiasm modes. It encourages the
American to be a citizen that always struggle for freedom and justice in the country. In
the speech also motivate the citizen to play their roles in order to bring peace for the
lovely land. In addition, as he said “ask not what your country can do for you but ask
what you can do for your country” and “ask not what America will do for you, but what
together we can do for the freedom of man”, he influence the spirit of active citizen to the
American. Furthermore, the speech also mentioned the way on how every party should
play their roles in order to stand for a freedom in the country. What important that JFK
want to show in the speech was how he really concern on his citizens and want them to
be together in achieving peace, harmony and justice in the country.

OPINION ON THE PERSONALITY

JFK became a 35th President of United State on January 20, 1961 after he defeated Nixon. From my opinion, he was a good leadership which as we can see, he always concerned for his citizen more than his power. His nature of leadership was clearly shown in his past time event where he sacrificed himself in order to face the difficulties and hazards of darkness to direct rescue operations while he involved in United State Naval Service. Moreover, his outstanding courage, endurance and leadership contributed to the saving of several lives and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Long time i haven't post anything in this blog..same with my teammates too..(^_~)

Anyway, at the last2 class..yaya or nadya has talked about Southern Thai..based on my observation, she was well-prepared and explained many things about the conflicts in Thailand and what i am really interested with her presentation is the way she speak. She speak clearly word by word and the flow of her speeche run smoothly and understandable. So, it makes me listen well to her speech. Congrats my fren!

Turn to the Southern Thai..what i am interested about is the insurgency in the country. As all of us know,The South Thailand insurgency is a separatist campaign which is taking place in the predominantly Malay Pattani region, made up of the three southernmost provinces of Thailand, with violence increasingly spilling over into other provinces.

Actually, the cause of the insurgency is some claim that it is based on long time resentment of Thai cultural and economic imperialism in Pattani, including allegations of police brutality, rape, disrespect of Islam, presence of Thai owned businesses such as gogo bars, brothels and drug trafficking, and deepened scars from ongoing attacks. However there are allegations that drug trafficking is one source of insurgent money.

Despite the security situation, some locals in the area support some kind of independence from Thailand. Others clearly do not. The referendum to support the junta backed constitution was favored by a majority in all three southernmost provinces. Some insurgent groups believe the only way is through armed conflict, whereas others believe in more constructive engagement.

this is martin luther king jr..he is the most influence negro that i ever know beside 2pac ammaru shakur, jayz and puff dady..hehe.. wazzup yo! ok..lets move on before madam "piat" my ears..wahaha..

Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family's long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen; he received the B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College, a distinguished Negro institution of Atlanta from which both his father and grandfather had graduated. After three years of theological study at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania where he was elected president of a predominantly white senior class, he was awarded the B.D. in 1951. With a fellowship won at Crozer, he enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and receiving the degree in 1955. In Boston he met and married Coretta Scott, a young woman of uncommon intellectual and artistic attainments. Two sons and two daughters were born into the family.

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement. On the evening of April 4, 1968, while standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was to lead a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers of that city, he was assassinated.

may God bless his soul for being truthful in his words..

Ermm..diz is my tired time..b'coz i have many works to finish up by diz week. I feel a little bit of stress like i want to run away from diz world..(oh no! it's not me!)
I really2 wish that my teammates can play their role as diz blog contibutors to send their posts about the previous presenters that i haven't talking about them yet..but i don't like to push people..it is not my style..it's ur responsibility..and u can think it by urself..sorry to say.
Anyway, to give opinion about the last presentation on Indonesia..I think all of us already know that Indonesia has faced many natural disasters such Tsunami, earthquake and so on.
Sometimes i can keep on asking why its always happened to the Indonesia? Is those disasters are reminder from Allah for something that they have done? or maybe the country is unlucky bcoz it located at the main point of the disasters..(hope u understand wat i mean..hee don't know how to say)..but, it doesn't mean unfortunate to be Indonesian but the reminder can mean that The Oneness love them. dats why He sent it to make people realize about His Power!
The recent news about Indonesia is the death of Suharto..27th January 2008.
My comment on the presenter..Tasneem..actually i like the way she prepared the handout bcoz the blank can make audience fill it by themselves while listening to her speech.
Another thing, she doing well with the various of pictures on the slides.
But, i think she could improve in term of her speed while speaking..It is too fast..and i hardly can grab what she was talking about..overall, well done!!

Actually..i never heard the name of Rwanda. I don't know there is a country name Rwanda.
I don't have any ideas on how the life of people who live in Rwanda. I don't know anything about Rwanda!! until the beautiful Qistina presenting on it last friday..ahaks~
What i remember almost now is about the two groups..Hutu and Tutsi..where Qistina said the one group is consists of people who are tall and another one consists of people who are short and round. emm why the shapes are too specific for each group? do they different because of their physical shapes? heeh..
Anyway, my opinion on the presenter..the beautiful Qistina..(i keep on calling like that bcoz i like to..hope u don't mind..heeh) when she start talking that day, i thought i am listening to Tengku Aisya lectures bcoz the way she speak, the speed, are reminded me to the lecturer. ( fast isn't?) heh..
However, the beautiful Qistina actually do her best, good explanation, good hand gestures
(i keep on looking at her hand gestures only that day..is that a barrier?) and interesting speech. But, as Ira's presentation, don't put too many information on the slide. Overall, as Julie said..u are beautiful that day,, i totally agree!!! (^_^)

life is beautiful or meaningless?

By JuLiDa
Hmm..since he is my teammate,classmate..and we are the one ummah..(^=^)
i am here to contribute some helps..
i stated some famous quotes which can make you critically think for..

"A life without love and friendship is a meaningless life. The meaning of life is, largely, given by love and friendship."

" Without affections and subjectivity, the meaning of life would be lost, and it will only remain laws, equations, models and forms".
E. Morin, French philosopher and sociologist.

"Life is nothing until it is lived, but it is yours to make sense of; the value of life is nothing other than the sense you choose."
Jean Paul Sartre, French writer and philosopher.

"Ignorant men do not know the excellence of what’s in their hands, until they've flung it away."
Sophocles, Greek Poet.

"To live is like to love – all reason is against it, and all healthy instinct for it."
Samuel Butler,English writer.

"If we weren’t interested in ourselves, life would be so uninteresting that we would not bare it."
Arthur Schopenhauer,German philosopher.

"These then are my last words to you: Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact."
William James, American philosophist.

Anyway..I think if anyone who atill searching for the true meaning of life means that he/she is not really enjoying this life. I mean..enjoy the love in our heart to God, Messengger, family, friends and all the creations! This is how you can feel the life is pleasure and valuable!
THANKS GOD for putting me here........

fight for a small region?

By JuLiDa
Fuhh..at last..i finished my presentation on last friday..now,i can critic anyone however i want..haha..(erk..is that me?)
Anyway..i don't know how people look at me that day..but frankly say i always practise the speech in front of mirror..heeh i thought i do my best(as me as the audience)..but when come in front of class, i am a bit lost. thats why i forgot to change the slide..but,i will improve myself in term of voice..(as all of you said)..
Now,i will talk about Miranti. She gave speech about the state that also include in my speech that day which is Kashmir. Kashmir actually just a small region, howver why India and Pakistan fought over it??
This is because even the region is small, but nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, its strategic importance and beauty make it a prized possession. Thats why both country struggle to get the 'wonderful" region. They will not strive for nothing. As the result of the war, no one won or loss which India got two third while Pakistan got one third. Fortunate to India because it got almostly the "useful" parts.
I turn now to the presenter..IRA~~
Actually she was doing her best even before start the presentation she looks nervous (thats why she asked me to continue my presentation?) hee..
Her eye contact and voice tone also are good and properly controlled..
But, she has to be carefull with her spontaneous "bahasa" words..(^-^) and do not put too many information on the slide..
Overall, good effort and good luck for next tasks and presentatations!

7 Tips to Make a Fantastic Impression on People Who Count

By JuLiDa
Making a fabulous impression on people opens doors for your business, personal, and career endeavors. People like charming people who make them feel comfortable. So, making a fantastic impression helps you get where you want to go.

The basic rule to make a great impression is this: Humans crave to be around people who seem similar to themselves. The key word is seems. Everyone differs from other people in hundreds of ways. However, you get along with people you seem similar to you in interests, feelings, experiences, or goals. You can put these techniques into action to help people feel you seem similar to them and, as a result, make a wonderful impression.

1st Technique: Forget the "Golden Rule"Since people crave to be around people who seem similar to themselves, avoid wasting time on the "Golden Rule" fantasy suggesting, "Treat people as you want to be treated." People do not want to be treated the way you want to be treated! Instead, treat other people the way they like being treated. You make a stellar impression by focusing on their likes, not yours.

2nd Technique: Use the Other Person's Interpersonal StylePeople interact using four interpersonal styles, as follows:
Results-Focused: "Quickly tell me the time, not how to build a clock!!"
Detail-Focused: "Slowly tell me how to build a clock, slowly leading up to what time it is."
Friendly-Focused: "First, I'll tell you about my family and weekend. Then, let's discuss yours. Then, let's gossip. Then, let's discuss work."
Partying-Focused: "Wanna hear another joke? Let's PARTY!!"
Remember: Humans crave to be around people who seem similar to themselves. So, with a results-focused person, act fast-paced and results-focused. To impress a detail-focused person, tell "how to build the clock," not what time it is.

3rd Technique: MirrorMirroring proves incredibly subtle, powerful, and physical. It helps the person instinctively feel comfortable with you. How? You mirror - make yourself seem similar to - the person's, body language, vocal style and attire.
To impress someone who sits straight, you sit straight with that person. If the person speaks slowly, then you do likewise. And dress as formally or informally as the person you want to impress.

4th Technique: Listen AttentivelyThis tale illustrates the importance of listening well.
A man decided to divorce his wife.
His lawyer asked, "Did you love your wife?" The man replied, "I would have left her, but I was hesitant before."
Then, the lawyer asked, "Why do you want to leave her?"
The man said, "We have lots of trees around our house, but I rake up the leaves myself."
The lawyer asked, "Is she mean?"
The man answered, " I stopped eating red meat."
Then, the lawyer inquired, "Does she do housework? Does she take out garbage?"
The man responded, "We have a two-car garage."
Finally, the man felt frustrated, because he failed to understand the point of the lawyer's questions, so he blurted, "You're a lawyer. Ask me useful questions about my lousy marriage?" So, the lawyer asked, "Why do you want to divorce?"
The man replied, "Because we can't communicate!"
This story shows, in extreme fashion, that many conversations actually are two simultaneous monologues. To make a great impression, listen well using these tactics:
Paraphrase or repeat ideas the person said, ask guestions, take notes.

5th Technique: Artful VaguenessProspective clients, who wanted to use my consulting, told me their business problems.
Using my expertise with similar problems, I gave my recommendation. They kept telling me they did not like my recommendation. But I knew my recommendation would solve their business problems. The more I said I was right and they were wrong, the more they defended their viewpoint. Suddenly, I realized I did not make them feel comfortable enough. But, I could not agree with them, since they were wrong. So, I listened again to their ideas. Then I said, "I've listened carefully to how you want to do this project. That's an idea." At the same time, I thought to myself - but did not say it - "That's a stupid idea." What did they think? They apparently interpreted "That's an idea" as me agreeing with them, although I had not. Actually, anything anyone says is "an idea." This technique is called artful vagueness. You can get out of uncomfortable jams using these artfully vague phrases:
"That's an idea."
"You've got a point."
"You may be right."

6th Technique: Use Everyone's Favorite WordImagine a time you heard someone shout your name. I bet you spun around to see who called your name. We are drawn to people who say our names. My research comparing high-achievers and underachievers revealed high-achievers used the name of the person they spoke to 4 or more time in each conversation. In contrast, underachievers used the name of the person they encountered less than half the time. This means high-achievers use the name of people they talk with much more than underachievers. You can do what high-achievers do.

7th Technique: ComplimentsWhile studying high-achievers and underachievers, I discovered an amazing difference. High-achievers gave an average of three compliments per day. However, underachievers seldom gave compliments. What an intriguing difference you can use to your advantage! Some people say these seven charm school techniques are "selling out." But, a French saying puts it in perspective: "A car can go as far on square wheels as it can go on round wheels. The difference is that on round wheels the ride is much smoother." Go through your life on round wheels!

me after this?

By JuLiDa
Illya..she ever been in my team for last semester class (principle of managerial comm) and I have a high expectation on her for her presentation last class. This is bcoz I know she can speak better and confident than me.

Regarding her presentation last class, I think she a bit nervous (maybe) until she hard to speak with flow. She failed to talk to the audience bcoz of lack of eye contact and she mostly read from the text. However, she tried to do her best! Congrats my fren!

Anyway, I don’t want to critic a lot on other presenters bcoz this coming Friday im going to be among them..heh I try to do my best but it depends on my ‘body situation’. Why? Because since I am in matriculation centre, my friends have already known me as a ‘shaking gurl’.ahaks~coz when I am going to talk in front of class, my body is going to shake!
But I think when I enter this main campus, I already improve myself even not really good but better than ‘shaking’.heeeh just wait and see what happen to me on that day. I have to be more confident and relaxss!

Back to the last class presentation which was conducted by Illya, I think she gave an important information about Palestin but need more explanation on it. When mention Palestin, I will imagine Yassir Arafat. He faced a lot of difficulties and challenges in his life time. I felt pity for him bcoz I can see him as a good leader however many people want to look him down.
On the other hand, I know about the conflict between Israel and Palestin which they fought over Baitul Maqdis.

Anyway, this morning, when Madam Shafizan asked me to make my presentation for about 10 to 15 minutes only on this friday, it decreases my nervousness. bcoz the previous presenters was gave their speech for almost half an hour and I am not deserve the same. I am still in a process of learning and improving...please correct me if i make mistakes!

Lebanese...

By JuLiDa
Actually I don't have wide knowledge about Lubnan and to talk about it, I have to do some research on that country. In addition, im not really feeling well this week..
First of all, in the last class (4th Jan) my classmate; Nasra (if the spelling is true..heh) has given an information about Lubnan, however i am not really can understand maybe because the way she speak and deliver the information are to fast and a bit of slang.
As for general knowledge about Lubnan (after doing some research..), i found there was happened a Lebanese Civil War on 1975-1990 which reached after the end of Lebanon's administration by the Ottoman Empire. Since the end of the war, the Lebanese have conducted several elections, most of the militias have been weakened or disbanded, and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have extended central government authority over about two-thirds of the country.
Following the cease-fire which ended the July 12, 2006 Israeli-Lebanese conflict, the army has for the first time in over three decades moved to occupy and control the southern areas of Lebanon. Only Hezbollah retains its weapons, due to what it claims is legitimate resistance against Israel in the Sheeba Farm area.
Lebanon still bears deep scars from the civil war. In all, it is estimated that more than 100,000 people were killed, and another 100,000 handicapped by injuries. Approximately 900,000 people, representing one-fifth of the pre-war population, were displaced from their homes. Perhaps a quarter of a million emigrated permanently. .
car boms became a favored weapon of violent groups worldwide, following their frequent, and often effective, use during the war. In the 15 years of strife, there were at least 3,641 car bombs, which left 4,386 people dead and thousands more injured. The country made progress toward rebuilding its political institutions and regaining its national sovereignty after the end of the war, establishing a political system that gives Muslims a greater voice in the political process.
Many critics, however, charge that the new arrangements institutionalized sectarian divisions in the government. However, since the civil war the 2006-Israel-Lebanon conflict has largely "rolled back the clock" on Lebanese infrastructure and recreated similar problems created by the civil war.
Above are some of information about the Lebanese war that I can give to all of u. But, i admit here that I am a person who is lack of knowledge about outside countries bcoz if read newspaper, I just read on what happen in Malaysia only. I don't know how to make me enjoy reading about other countries news! I keep on trying!
No wonder why I never ask anything or never give any opinions to the presenters.ahaks~

Mujahideen in Chechnya

In the case of the Chechen-Russian conflict, the term Mujahideen has often been used to refer to all separatist fighters. In this article however, it will be used to refer to the foreign, non-Chechen fighters who joined the separatists’ cause for the sake of Jihad. In other literature dealing with this conflict they are often called Ansaar (helpers) to prevent confusion with the native fighters.

Foreign Mujahideen have played a part in both Chechen wars. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the subsequent Chechen declaration of independence, foreign fighters started entering the region and allied themselves with local Islamist rebels (most notably Shamil Basayev). Most of them were veterans of the Soviet-Afghan war and prior to the Russian invasion, they used their expertise to train the Chechen separatists. During the First Chechen War they were notorious and feared for their ‘hit and run’ guerilla tactics. Ambushing military convoys and raiding bases, they inflicted severe casualties on the badly prepared Russian Army. The Mujahideen also made a significant financial contribution to the separatists’ cause. With their access to the immense wealth of Salafist charities like al-Haramein, they soon became an invaluable source of funds for the Chechen resistance, which had little resources of its own.

After the withdrawal of Russian forces from Chechnya most of the Mujahideen decided to remain in the country. In 1999, foreign Mujahideen would play an important role in the ill-fated Chechen incursion into Dagestan, where they suffered a decisive defeat and where forced to retreat back into Chechnya. The incursion provided the new Russian government with a pretext for intervention and in December 1999 Russian ground forces invaded Chechnya again.

In the Second Chechen War the separatists were less successful. Faced with a better prepared and more determined Russian army, the Chechens were unable to hold their ground and in February 2000, Russian officials claimed the separatists had been defeated. The Russians also succeeded in eliminating the most prominent Mujahideen commanders (most notably Ibn al-Khattab, Abu al-Walid and Abu Omar al-Saif).

Although the region has since been far from stable, separatist activity has decreased dramatically and although some foreign fighters are still active in Chechnya, interest seems to have shifted to other conflicts like the Iraqi insurgency, the War in Somalia and the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

language pOwer!!

By JuLiDa
Language is a symbol of interaction with others when we share the meaning..as our lovely lecturer, Madam Shafizan said in the last class, we still can be a good communicator even we don't have a good common of language. This is impossible if we know how to speak with flow and have a lot of knowledge of certain informations.

However, if we have a good common of language, it is a advantage for us to be more succesfull and effective communicator. Let us now knowing what are the components of language as we can improve our skills in achieving a good common in the area.

Firstly, let look at the terms; homonym, homophones and heteronym.
Do all of you really understand about those terms? lets discuss its.

1-Homonym: One of a group words that share the same spelling or pronounciation (or both) but have different meanings. As for the examples below:

a) Stalk which can mean either part of a plant or to follow someone around.
b) Lie which can mean to say something untrue or to be in a horizontal position.

2- Homophones: A word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning. As for the examples:

a) Meat which means the edible flesh of animals while meet is to come together or to be introduced to.
b) Peace which means freedom from strive and while piece is a part of larger thing.

3- Heteronym: Words with identical spellings but different pronounciations and meanings. They may vary in vowel realisation or in stress patterns, or both.
As the examples below:

a) Excuse: Please excuse me while I think of an excuse.
b) Wind : Hopefully the wind will be strong enough to wind the windwill

what tO Say...

By JuLiDa

Firstly, my mind now is blank..bcoz a minute from now i'm gonna do a written comm test. but, however i have to talk about the third presenter, an Indonesian..Lutfi.

Before he gives his speech, i already assumed that he will present a nice and great informative speech and it does! I can see him as expert b'coz the way he given the information and the preparation of his slide like an expert speaker. It gives more challenges for me to deliver my speech soon but a little bit encourage me to do better. thanks.

About his information on Sudan, I think he gave a details explanation on what happen in the country. He said that Sudan is not a poor country like what has been potrayed by media bcoz the country rich with natural resources, however thay just failed to develop it. The information totally change my mind now bcoz before this, if i heard about Sudan..i always imagine it is a poor and undevelop country.

I want to share my knowledge about other countries too here like others but now i just can think about a country that i have to present soon..heeh
