Long time i haven't post anything in this blog..same with my teammates too..(^_~)

Anyway, at the last2 class..yaya or nadya has talked about Southern Thai..based on my observation, she was well-prepared and explained many things about the conflicts in Thailand and what i am really interested with her presentation is the way she speak. She speak clearly word by word and the flow of her speeche run smoothly and understandable. So, it makes me listen well to her speech. Congrats my fren!

Turn to the Southern Thai..what i am interested about is the insurgency in the country. As all of us know,The South Thailand insurgency is a separatist campaign which is taking place in the predominantly Malay Pattani region, made up of the three southernmost provinces of Thailand, with violence increasingly spilling over into other provinces.

Actually, the cause of the insurgency is some claim that it is based on long time resentment of Thai cultural and economic imperialism in Pattani, including allegations of police brutality, rape, disrespect of Islam, presence of Thai owned businesses such as gogo bars, brothels and drug trafficking, and deepened scars from ongoing attacks. However there are allegations that drug trafficking is one source of insurgent money.

Despite the security situation, some locals in the area support some kind of independence from Thailand. Others clearly do not. The referendum to support the junta backed constitution was favored by a majority in all three southernmost provinces. Some insurgent groups believe the only way is through armed conflict, whereas others believe in more constructive engagement.
